I hope that you find this Healthy Hearts Exercise in Retirement website helpful to you.   For those who would like to find out a little more about me please contine to read.

In1986 I qualified as an aerobics instructor and started my own fitness class in Sidcup.   This became very popular and the one class quickly grew into four classes over the week.   The 1990’s saw me still running community classes but also working in local leisure centres.

I also undertook many additional training courses and completed further qualifications taking me to a more advanced level.  I continued teaching in the community, and still do today,  classes include Aerobics, Body Conditioning, Step, Circuit training and I have been running an Exercise in Retirement class for the past ten years .

In 2001, I coElain REPmpleted the British Association for Cardiac Rehabilitation Phase IV Instructor course, little realising where this would take me. As an advanced Fitness Instructor with over fifteen years experience, this course gave me the knowledge and skills to work with cardiac patients who were referred from a hospital or GP setting into a community programme.

In 2001 I started the very first gym based cardiac rehab programme in my area, the programme is still running today.

In October 2007 I was offered a contract working for my local Primary Care Trust as both their Phase IV Network Facilitator, which means I look after and set up new community programmes which offers long term support to those who have had a cardiac event , and the PCT’s Home Based Coordinator. This involves running the British Heart Foundations Road to Recovery Programme. This service allows patients to participate in a cardiac rehabilitation exercise programme in the comfort of their own home.

For three years I also worked with my local Stop Smoking Service, delivering a drop in clinic and groups for those who wanted to give up smoking.

2007 also saw me receiving the Register of Exercise Professionals, Exceptional Achievement Award, at Excel in London.

Today I still run the BHF Road to Recovery  which is the home based service and look after the Community Network.

I also run a community rehab programme at Horizones Health & Fitness Club in Wilmington Kent which has over a 120 members. As well as running two rehab classes at New Community Church in Sidcup Kent which has 50 members.

I continue to teach other fitness classes such as Body Pump, Exercise in Retirement, Aerobics, Body Conditioning classes and Step.

My aim for Healthy Hearts Exercise in Retirement website is to offer practical advice so that in retirement you are able to maintain a good quality of life for many years to come.
